I belong to the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Betharram. Betharram is a small village and shrine to Our Lady about nine miles outside of Lourdes.  Many people have heard of the Grottos of Betharram, but not so many about the shrine where our founder St Michael Garicoits brought our Congregation into being.

Thank you to the people who have kindly volunteered to Church Clean. Marvellous that it has halved the time for those groups!   We now only need one or two more for Group 2 who clean mainly on a Thursday, or Friday, after Mass every 6 weeks.

Help Our Lady & St Werburgh’s school win £20,000!

Aldi is giving 20 primary schools the chance to win £20,000. The school simply has to collect stickers from Aldi (1 sticker per £30 spent in store) in order to enter. If anyone in the Parish shops at Aldi, please ask for these stickers at the till, and hand them in at Church or at the School.


First Forgiveness and First Holy Communion

Please can parents of any children due to make their First Holy Communion next June, who do not attend Our Lady & St Werburgh Primary School, and attend Mass at Our Lady & St Werburgh Church, Clayton or Our Lady and St John the Baptist, Ashley, contact Father Anton at the parish office 01782 613023 to fill in the application form.

LinkLine Stamp Appeal

LinkLine would be very grateful for any donations of 2nd class stamps to help them to send out Christmas and birthday cards to their clients. We use around 250 stamps a year. Any support you may be able to offer us will be most welcome.

News In The Parish

Today's update - 08/12/2019

Todays updates include the parish newsletter, Father Anton's column, diary dates and timetables for Advent penitential services and Christmas services.

Thank you to the people who have kindly volunteered to Church Clean.  Marvellous that it has halved the time for those groups!   We now only need one or two more for Group 2 who clean mainly on a Thursday, or Friday, after Mass every 6 weeks.  Please consider it and tell Sharon in the parish office 613023. The 2020 rota is now available in the porch.

Thank you also to all the helpers who organised the Parish Supper at Ashley.

Coming up, Christmas Carol Singing is taking place on:

  1. Monday 16th December at Royal Stoke University Hospital from 6pm.
  2. Thursday 19th December at the Gatehouse Pub, Clayton on from 7pm

2020 begins with the annual Senior Citizens Party taking place on Sunday 5th January in our Church hall from 3pm – 5pm.

Forthcoming Events

Carols at Royal Stoke University Hospital (Monday 16th December)

Christmas Carol Singing will be taking place Royal Stoke University Hospital at 6pm. Meeting at 5.00pm for a 6.00pm start. Meeting point is the Spiritual, Pastoral and Religious Centre, Main Building, Lower Ground 2. If you would like to attend, please leave your name at the parish office.

Carols at the Gatehouse Pub (Thursday 19th December)

Christmas Carol Singing will be taking place at the Gatehouse Pub in Clayton at 7pm – 8.30 pm.

Senior Citizens Party (Sunday 5th January 2020)

The annual Senior Citizen's Party will take place in our Church hall from 3pm – 5pm.
