Father Anton's Weekly Message
	All Saints Year C
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that I must announce the passing of Father Simon Hall, the parish priest of St Teresa’s Trent Vale, on Wednesday of this week. We have all been praying recently for his recovery, but as time rolled on it became apparent that his condition was even more serious than had first been thought. Our Dean, Father Paul, McNally acknowledges him as a dear friend and well loved by all who knew him. I always found him to be kind and thoughtful, with a good sense of humour, a man dedicated to Christ, the Church and his people. Please continue to pray for the repose of his soul and the needs of his family at this time. I will post further details about his arrangements when known. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord!
It is now a time to recall that very important element of our faith, that of the Resurrection promised us by Jesus himself. Although the passing from this life is always sad and difficult for those left behind, the promise of life eternal is an important celebration which we mark this weekend with the Solemnity of “All Saints” and the following day of prayer for “All Souls.” Please note the special Mass times on Monday for All Souls and the fact that All Saints has been given a very prominent place that of Sunday Worship.
November is a very special time to express our faith and the fact that we are “Pilgrims of Hope” in a world that has much need of such a virtue. During November we are called to pray daily for our deceased loved ones and to have Masses offered for the repose of their souls. Lest we forget and lest we forget to practise our faith in the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus, celebrated in Our Mass, Our Eucharist. If we do not pray and offer sacrifice for them in the month of November, then when will we do so?
Looking back over the past week and the celebration of our Mission, I would like to thank everyone who organised and gave their support for the varying events. It was a joyous occasion, and it brought a special spark in the life of the parish. Again, thank you to everyone who took part and thank you to the Sion team who looked after both school and parish.
I hope that half-term was a time to rest and recuperation. I managed a few days away and feel the better for it. May it have been the same for you.
God bless and may the Lord walk by your side.
