Father Anton's Weekly Column

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that I must announce the passing of Father Simon Hall, the parish priest of St Teresa’s Trent Vale, on Wednesday of this week. We have all been praying recently for his recovery, but as time rolled on it became apparent that his condition was even more serious than had first been thought. Our Dean, Father Paul, McNally acknowledges him as a dear friend and well loved by all who knew him. I always found him to be kind and thoughtful, with a good sense of humour, a man dedicated to Christ, the Church and his people. Please continue to pray for the repose of his soul and the needs of his family at this time. I will post further details about his arrangements when known. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord!

Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Appeal: Boxes are available in the porch. Please take a leaflet and check which items can be sent. Please return to Church by 6th November.

Coming up is the Fearless Retreat at Alton Castle between 7th – 9th November. The Winter Fayre is on 29th November.

We are pleased to confirm generous grants that have been awarded for the external decoration of Ashley Church

Grants have been received from:

• Benefact Trust: £2,500
• Staffs Historic Churches Trust: £1,800
• National Churches Trust: £3,000

These will be a great help towards the fundraising campaign.
